THE LOCAL AREA

Awliscombe is a small village school, located about two miles from the East Devon market town of Honiton. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, the school has its own environmental area through which the children walk on their way to our weekly church assembly. The school is the hub of the village, sandwiched between the Church of St Michael & All Angels and the Vicarage, and just a short walk away from the Awliscombe Inn and the village hall.

THE SCHOOL BUILDINGS

The school was built in the Victorian era and was modernised and extended in 1994. There are four classrooms and a central kitchen/activity area. A brand new ICT Suite (top left) was officially opened last term and a converted stable block (bottom left) is used for assemblies, music and indoor PE lessons. There is a playground to the front of the building complete with a decking stage and ‘quiet area’; grounds to the rear have been professionally mapped to accommodate the pupils’ interest in orienteering.
